Our Stories: 75 Years of the NHS from the People Who Built It, Lived It and Love It
Our Stories tells, for the first time ever, the rich history of the NHS through the people who have experienced it.
It conveys the many incredible stories that have happened during the lifetime of the NHS. It features Joan Meredith, who campaigned for a new health service in the 1940s and one of the first patients diagnosed with HIV/AIDS, Jonathan Blake.
It also features Klarissa Velasco, who came from the Philippines to work in the NHS in 2019, and cared for patients during COVID-19. There are many other voices of patients, nurses, doctors, porters and ordinary people included in the book.
